Jazmine Sullivan

JazmineJazmine was raised and born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Pam Her mother, who is a former back-up singer at Philadelphia International Records. Her father gave an opportunity to be the curator at the Historic Strawberry Mansion. She together with her family later moved in to the historic iconic. In 2005 she graduated from Philadelphia High School for the Creative and Performing Arts in the class of singer-music major. Sullivan began singing in the children's choir as a contralto before joining the adult choir a few years later. He was exposed to secular music but was at first limited "I had solo performances in the church, and I was asked to sign to a gospel label when I was 11 years old, but I wasn't ready to do that," she recalls. "Then McDonald's offered a competition with children of major cities. In the end, I got the opportunity to perform What God Wills on Showtime Apollo. The crowd was welcoming." She performed alongside Stevie Wonder at his grandson's birthday party at thirteen. Sullivan, at age 15 at the time, signed her first contract with Jive Records. There, she recorded the entire album but the album never came out. Sullivan was eventually dropped on the labels. Missy Elliott was her producer for a few tracks from her debut album. Of these "Backstabbers" by Timbaland and Timbaland, which Elliott produced, is a significant moment in their partnership.
